Welcome to the Eastmoor Junior Tennis Program page!
Eastmoor provides classes for all levels of junior tennis players and you can find programs based on age groups with the above tabs. For those who are new to junior tennis, quite a bit has changed in the way tennis is introduced to children and teens today. For starters, the United States Tennis Association (USTA) rolled out a new program called Quickstart Tennis in 2010. This program was monumental in allowing children to learn the game of tennis at an appropriate level for children's size and skill. To best explain this program we will use the sport of soccer as an example. When 8 year olds are introduced to soccer they are placed on a smaller size field with smaller goals than adult soccer players. The same now applies to tennis based on a child's age there are different size courts and different ball pressures which effect the speed and bounce of the ball. Also racquet length is different for each age group as well. A visual below best explains the breakdown: |
